Great news! Book fair has been extended. While today, April 1, is the last day to make cash purchases, credit cards, tap, and ewallets may be used to purchase through Thursday, April 2.

Visit Southern Hills Elementary's book fair website to look through a digital flyer, set up an ewallet, or order from a wider selection directly to your home from online. (If you have specific titles you and your child have decided on together, please send a note or message Ms. Hadwin on dojo if you aren't able to come shop with them.) Family and friends of students are encouraged to set up an ewallet account to allow cash free shopping. These work like a gift card and allow budget limits without worrying about your student losing their cash along the way. If you are a supporter of our reading community and library who would like to spread the magic of book fair to all students, you invited to donate to our Share the Fair account through the book fair website.

Good Evening Parents/Guardians
Southern Hills will continue virtual instruction on Tuesday due to ongoing water pressure issues in Shreveport. Lessons will be posted by 8 a.m. through your teacher's normal communication method. Students may access assignments via ClassLink at https://login.classlink.com/my/caddosd. Tech help: 318-364-1958.
Due to water pressure issues through the city, Southern Hills will have a virtual day tomorrow.
If your child does not have access to a device to work on Zearn and Lexia, please have them work on their math facts. (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
Students on 2nd grade and up are working on their reading stamina— the goal is the ability to read 30 minutes without stopping. K-1 students who are new readers should be practicing with shorter texts. Have them read them three times each and watch how they improve. (The first time through is to decode the words, the second time is for fluency, and the third is for understanding.)
It's been a busy day for our Vikings. In addition to our Boys Basketball team playing, the cast of the Black History Program gathered for practice this morning. Classes will enjoy this program on Friday morning.

🚨 SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATE 🚨
Caddo schools and sites will remain closed Thursday. While main roadways are improving, many neighborhood and rural roads remain icy, ice remains on school campuses, and some schools are addressing weather-related facility issues. Freezing fog is also expected overnight into Thursday morning.
In alignment with other North Louisiana school systems, we will remain closed out of an abundance of caution. Safety remains our priority.

Caddo schools will remained closed on Wednesday, January 28th in order to allow the ice to melt. Stay safe, Vikings!
School is out on Monday and Tuesday because of the winter weather.

Thanks to all of you who supported our book fair this week. While our shopping days at school are done, you can still shop the book fair online through November 30th!
